Cluster Neptune is among the 140 most computers

The Neptune Cluster appears in the June 2008 TOP500 list at position 138. The list, which is republished every six months, brings together the 500 fastest computers in the world. The supercomputer has a maximum processing capacity of 21.79 Teraflops being the only Brazilian representative on the list. It is installed in the Núcleo de Computação Eletrônica (NCE) of the Federal University of Rio de Janerio. It is the main numerical processing tool used by the various research institutions that compose the REMO network for the realization of oceanographic forecasts and for a better understanding of the ocean circulation in the South Atlantic.
